Overground Tanks Calibration

Image
Tank Calibration of Overground Tanks of 25K to 80K that I can say falls within the range of DOVER FS 3D laser scanner capability is really a challenge. Actually the scaffolding and its requirements, when specifically it goes to sites located inside PDO, OXY, DALEEL it becomes more complicated, maybe because they are not well familiar with the HSE conditions of 3D laser scanning. However, after an understanding atmosphere establishes they release some of the HSE rules that obstacle the 3D laser scanning of the tanks.   AlKhuwaimia Site Overground Tank (Visited on 4th Aug. 2025) This tank although it is 25K, its location has two issues; windy and there is a wall as you can see near to the tank. Height of scaffolding here must be 4 meter, in windy situation with the 3D laser scanner that is 3 meter installed over a 4 meter platform on the scaffolding creates a very risky situation. As you may know, high speed winds (more than 15 Km/hr) and rain are conditions that under them tan...

Working on Sandan FS AlMaha

Image
We worked on Sandan FS Tank Calibration project in July 2025 in Muscat. 3 new tanks have been scanned by the 3D laser scanner which is shown in the pictures. Tanks had a manhole in one side.       A sample of the charts obtained from scans

Videos of a sample work done on AlMaha AlHail 2 FS in 2018

In the below video, we present a demo tank calibration for AlHail 2 FS for AlMaha Petroleum Products Marketing Company in brief here only we call it AlMaha. The below video is the general Tank Calibration demonstration by 3D Laser Scanning Tech from DOVER FS

Working on Fuely Tankers - Tank Calibration August 2022

In this post I show the work of tank calibration done on Fuely Tankers of AlMaha Company, where they wanted exact charts for their Fuely Tankers. First scaffolding is made and then tankers come under it their two compartments become scanned and then from the cloud of points showing the tankers' tank inside the strapping charts/tables are produced by the DOVER FS Office in Italy. Each tanker has two compartments, means two time scanning is required.
